Considering a private charter for the first time? Here’s everything you need to know.

Whether you’re considering a private flight for a business trip or a personal getaway, private charter travel offers benefits for everyone – including convenience, ease of travel, time savings and more. Here are some of the top questions we hear from first-time private charter passengers:

What’s the flight schedule?

Some customers wonder if we have a schedule we can share with flight times, destinations, etc. The answer is: our schedule is 100% your schedule! We base our flights on your needs, so if you want to fly to Georgia for a 10 a.m. tee time, we’ll recommend a departure time, schedule with the arriving airport and arrange ground transportation if you need it. Private air charter allows for flexibility in departure and return times, making your travel stress free.

How far in advance do I need to book my charter flight?

With a fleet of 12 aircraft available for private charter service, Griffing Flying Service offers our customers flexibility. Because of the volume of business travel we provide, our schedule is typically booked about two weeks out. Since many people plan vacations well in advance, we can typically accommodate pleasure travel needs. We recommend that customers call us as soon as they know their plans, so we can reserve the best aircraft for their needs.

How early should I arrive for my flight?

When you fly with a charter service, you can skip all the time-consuming lines associated with commercial travel: offsite parking, shuttle services, baggage check, security gates, boarding lines. In fact, your travel group and our staff will likely be the only people at the airport. The plane is yours, with no other passengers needing to board. This level of convenience streamlines your travel experience, so there’s no need to arrive early at the airport. The aircraft is on your schedule and will never depart without you. Typically, takeoff time is about 10 minutes after your arrival.

What airports do you fly into?

Private air charter has access to over 4,000 general aviation airports in the United States, putting you as close to your destination as possible.

Do I need to arrange ground transportation?

Our concierge team can coordinate any and all ground needs. We can schedule a car service, book you a personal rental car, make hotel reservations, accommodate catering requests and more. Anything you need, we are here to help.

What training do pilots receive?

Our pilots undergo the same training, safety and testing requirements as the crews flying with any major airline. Because of the personal nature of private travel, our standards are incredibly high; we accept nothing but best from our flight crews.

Do you fly in inclement weather?

Our aircraft are equipped to fly in all but the worst weather. Our flight crews are trained to not only keep you safe, but to communicate with you about your trip. If weather delays are a possibility, we will reach out to you directly. We will work with you to adjust your plans around the weather, ensuring the best outcome for your travel.
